Artist Bio
Brian Sidney Bembridge
(Bio as of April 2011)
Brian Sidney Bembridge most recently collaborated with the Goodman on El Nogalar during the 2010/2011 Season. His previous designs for Goodman include Hephaestus (Jeff Award nomination), and the world premieres of Massacre (Sing to Your Children) and Writing Our World. His work has appeared locally at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, The Second City, Lookingglass Theatre Company, Court Theatre, The Chicago Theatre, Ravinia Festival, the Drury Lane theaters, Luna Negra Dance Theater, Writers’ Theatre, Northlight Theatre, Victory Gardens Theater, TimeLine Theatre Company (artistic associate) and Teatro Vista (artistic associate) among others. His off-Broadway credits include The Public Theater, Second Stage Theatre, Jean Cocteau Repertory Theatre, Kids with Guns and Theatre at St. Clement’s. Regional credits include the Guthrie Theater, Children’s Theatre Company, Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Alliance Theatre, Arden Theatre Company, California Shakespeare Theater, Round House Theatre, Virginia Opera, Opera Omaha, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Madison Repertory Theatre and Circle X Theatre Co. (company member), among others. His film production design credits include Wallace Shawn’s Marie and Bruce; Holding Out; Stray Dogs and Muppets from Space. Mr. Bembridge has been honored with five Jeff awards, two Hewes Design Award nominations, two Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle awards, two Back Stage Garland awards, an Ovation Award and an L.A. Weekly Award, and was named one of the five most prolific theater artists of the decade by Time Out Chicago.
