Artist Bio
Kathryn Bostic
(Bio as of May 2008)
Kathryn Bostic most recently collaborated with the Goodman on The Ballad of Emmett Till during the 2007/2008 Season. Her other Goodman credits include August Wilson’s Radio Golf, which she composed and wrote the score for. Broadway credits include Gem of the Ocean. Other theater credits include Wole Soyinka’s Death and the King’s Horseman at Syracuse Stage; David Feldshuh’s adaptation of Little Women at Cornell University’s Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts; George C. Wolfe’s The Colored Museum at Crossroads Theatre Company, The Public Theatre and The Royal Court Theatre; and work at numerous other theaters including The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Mark Taper Forum, Centerstage, The Children’s Theater Company and Huntington Theatre Company. Ms. Bostic is a recipient of the Sundance Fellowship for Film Scoring. She has composed music for Stanley Nelson’s PBS American Experience production of Marcus Garvey and A Place of Our Own. She has also composed the music for Bann Roy’s Taking the Heat, which aired on Independent Lens. As a vocalist and pianist, Ms. Bostic has performed in various clubs and festivals including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London, The Blue Note (Tokyo and Osaka), The Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Pori Finland Jazz Festival, Cape May Jazz Festival, Birdland, the JVC Jazz Festival in New York, Catalina’s in Los Angeles and The Vic in Santa Monica. She has also toured and/or recorded with a number of artists including k.d. lang, Ryuichi Sakamoto, John Hiatt, Rod Stewart, The Manhattans and David Byrne. She is currently working on a recording of her own material.
