Artist Bio
Susan Hilferty

Susan Hilferty most recently collaborated with the Goodman on Radio Golf during the 2006/2007 Season. At the Goodman she has designed Frank’s Home (a co-production with Playwrights Horizons), Jitney, the world premiere of the Kander/Ebb/McNally musical The Visit, The Night of the Iguana, Three Moscowteers, Red River, Comedy of Errors, The House of Martin Guerre, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Lost in the Stars. Notable credits include the Broadway and Chicago productions of Wicked (2004 Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, also National Tour and London), Lestat (2006 Tony nomination), The Good Body, Assassins, Into the Woods (Tony, Drama Desk and Ovation Award nominations), Dirty Blonde, the new Broadway musical Spring Awakening, as well as Alvin Ailey’s Love Stories and Laurie Anderson’s stage adaptation of Moby Dick. Chicago credits include designs for Northlight and Court Theatre. Ms. Hilferty has collaborated on 15 premiere productions with playwright/director Athol Fugard. Other directorial collaborations include Robert Falls, David Petrarca, Michael Maggio, Frank Galati, Garland Wright, JoAnne Akalaitis, Des McAnuff, Mark Lamos, Robert Woodruff, Andre Gregory and Joe Mantello, among many others. Ms. Hilferty chairs the Graduate Design Program at NYU/Tisch School of the Arts. Her awards include 2000 Obie Award for Sustained Excellence in Costume Design and the Michael Merritt Award.
