Artist Bio
Elbio Barilari
(Bio as of July 2010)
Elbio Barilari (born in Montevideo, Uruguay) most recently collaborated with the Goodman on the 2010 Latino Theater Festival. He has received commissions from Ravinia Festival, Grant Park Music Festival, Concertante di Chicago, Chicago Children’s Choir, Chicago Composer Forum and guitarist Eduardo Fernández, among others, as well as a grant from the Sara Lee Foundation. In addition to works for orchestra, chamber ensembles and solo instruments, he has provided scores for more than 40 plays in the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Barilari currently teaches at the University of Illinois at Chicago and, together with composer Gustavo Leone, is one of the organizers of the Latino Music Festival.
