Artist Bio
Sophiyaa Nayar

Sophiyaa Nayar (Director) creates work that centers (im)migrants. Goodman credits include the Future Labs production of Shakuntala. Chicago credits include Love in The Time of Jonestown (New Coordinates); Good Years (Definition); Pretty Shahid (Jackalope) and EthiopianAmerica (Definition), which won Black Theatre Alliance Awards for Best Play, Featured Actor and Actress and a Jeff Award for Fight Choreography. Off-Broadway credits include Plural (Love) (WP Theatre; Pipeline Festival); Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe with Cecily Strong (AD; The Shed); Nollywood Dreams (AD; MCC) and Soft Power (SDC Fellow; The Public).
