Richard Gamboa

Richard Gamboa most recently appeared at the Goodman in Massacre (Sing to Your Children) during the 2006/2007 Season. He graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2003 (B.A. Spanish, Sociology) and shortly after began his career as an actor in his native Chicago. Since then, he has become a Company Member of the renowned Barrel of Monkeys Theater Company and the emergent urbantheater co. and appeared in several productions on stages across the city. He was last seen in urbantheater co.’s acclaimed production of Eulogy for a Small Time Thief, directed by Joel Moorman and in the Vittum Theatre’s production of The Search For Odysseus, directed by Nic Dimond. This summer Richard trained with modern master Anne Bogart and her internationally recognized SITI Company in Saratoga Springs and New York City, partially supported by the City of Chicago, Department of Cultural Affairs CAAP Grant. Gamboa has worked with over 2,000 school children as an actor-educator through Chicago Public Schools, enrichment programs and outreach centers with Barrel of Monkeys, Children Home & Aide Society, Marwen Foundation, Pegasus Players and Piven Theatre Workshop, using theater as a tool for youth development and empowerment.
