Merrily Murray-Walsh

Merrily Murray-Walsh returns to the Goodman, where she previously designed costumes for Robert Falls’ 1990 production of The Iceman Cometh, starring Brian Dennehy (also at Dublin’s Abbey Theatre). Her Broadway credits include The Speed of Darkness (directed by Robert Falls) and Brothers (directed by Carroll O’Connor). Regionally, her work has appeared at Arena Stage, Westport Country Playhouse, Hartford Stage, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Williamstown Theatre Festival, the Children’s Theatre Company, South Coast Repertory, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, the Indiana Repertory Theatre and The Old Globe, among others. She was the associate costume designer (with Tony Walton) for the film The Glass Menagerie, directed by Paul Newman and starring Joanne Woodward. Other film credits include the IMAX films The Discoverers, Homeland and the documentary short Speed. Her work has appeared on television in Kingfish: A Story of Huey P. Long (starring John Goodman); In Search of Dr. Seuss (Emmy nomination); The Murder of Mary Phagan (co-designed with Judy Moorcroft; Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries); MGM: When the Lion Roared; War Story: Vietnam (CableACE Award for Best Miniseries) and “Miss Lonelyhearts” as part of American Playhouse on PBS. She has studied at Mills College and Carnegie Mellon University, and trained with John Conklin and Tony Walton.
