Artist Bio
Ben Sussman
(Bio as of May 2006)
Ben Sussman most recently collaborated with the Goodman on The Clean House during the 2005/2006 Season. Design and composition credits include projects for Lookingglass Theatre (artistic associates), Court Theatre (1999-02 resident artists), Victory Gardens (resident designers), About Face Theatre (associate artists), the Goodman, Steppenwolf and many other Chicago and regional theaters. Broadway credits include I Am My Own Wife and Metamorphoses. Awards include nine Jeff Awards and Citations, an L.A. Ovation Award, a Drama Critics Circle Award and a Lortel nomination for composition and sound design. Recent projects include after the quake, Love Song and Lady Madeline at Steppenwolf; Silk at Goodman Theatre; Pericles at Washington D.C.’s Shakespeare Theatre Company and Goodman Theatre; Honour at Berkeley Repertory; BFE at Long Wharf and Playwrights Horizons; Lady Windemere’s Fan at Williamstown; Secret in the Wings at Berkeley Repertory, Seattle Repertory and McCarter Theatre; The Clean House at Yale Repertory; Passion Play, a cycle at Arena Stage and A Moon for the Misbegotten at McCarter. Their musical Winesburg, Ohio, which premiered at Steppenwolf Arts Exchange under the direction of Jessica Thebus, was produced by the Arden Theatre in Philadelphia last fall.
