Artist Bio
Cecil Averett
(Bio as of November 2010)
Cecil Averett most recently collaborated with the Goodman on A Christmas Carol during the 2010/2011 Season. Mr. Averett has designed sound and composed music for theater, film, multimedia and civic installations. He is also a software designer and co-founder of cs | designgroup. In addition to Beyond Glory, Romance, Passion Play: a cycle in three parts and A Christmas Carol at the Goodman, some of his regional theater credits include Cabaret at Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace, Grey Gardens, The Marvelous Wonderettes and Daddy Long Legs at Northlight Theatre, as well as productions at Arena Stage, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire. Other designs include the off-Broadway production of Beyond Glory at Roundabout Theatre Company and CAP21’s premiere of Waiting for My Man, also off Broadway. Mr. Averett was the recipient of an After Dark Award for Original Music for his work on Eclipse Theatre Company’s production of Frame 312, as well as a Jeff Award-nominee for sound design of both Into the Woods and Passion Play: a cycle in three parts.
