Artist Bio
Gustavo Leone
(Bio as of June 2010)
Gustavo Leone most recently collaborated with the Goodman on The Sins of Sor Juana during the 2009/2010 Season. Mr. Leone’s other Goodman credits include Boleros for the Disenchanted, The Cook, Electricidad and Mariela in the Desert. He has also worked for theaters such as Yale Repertory Theatre, Court Theatre and Lookingglass Theatre. Mr. Leone is a Professor in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts of Loyola University Chicago and has served on the faculty of the Music Department of Columbia College Chicago. He holds a PhD in composition from the University of Chicago. Mr. Leone is a recipient of a Walter Hinrichsen Award from the American Academy of Art and Letters. His music is included in the catalogs of C.F. Peters, New York, and Naxos Recordings. Numerous ensembles and organizations have played, commissioned and recorded Mr. Leone’s works, including Grant Park Festival Orchestra; Symphonic Orchestra of Michoacán, México; the Chicago Sinfonietta; and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.
