Artist Bio

Ismael Lara Jr.
(Bio as of August 2021)
Ismael Lara Jr. (Assistant Director) is originally from Southeast Texas. Chicago assistant credits include the world premieres of The Leopard Play, or sad songs for lost boys (Steep Theatre) and I’m Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter (Steppenwolf Theatre). Other selected credits include El Guayabo (Creede Rep); The Displaced and Tomas & The Library Lady (Northwestern); The Thing I Hold (Hangar); And All The Dead Lie Down (Convergence-Continuum); Aunt Leaf (Cleveland Play House). He’s developed plays with CPT at Entry Point, Playwrights Local, Kane Rep, Rec Room, The Lark and National Queer Theatre. He is a recipient of a Drama League Fellowship and is an MFA candidate at Northwestern University.
