Artist Bio
John Herrera

John Herrera (Osvaldo/Young Alfredo) appeared at Goodman Theatre previously as George in Sunday in the Park with George (Jeff nomination) and Carl Magnus in A Little Night Music, both directed by the late Michael Maggio. John was Tony nominated for creating the role of Neville in the Broadway production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Other Broadway credits: Evita, 1776, Camelot with Richard Burton and The Threepenny Opera. John created the role of Kevin off-Broadway in In the Heights. National tours: Che in Evita, (also Shubert Theater); Anatoly in Chess; Enjolras in Les Misérables; and both Roy/Louis in Angels in America. Regional: Rothko in Red at Orlando Shakes; Anna in the Tropics at Seattle Rep/Maltz Jupiter (Carbonell Award); Lend Me A Tenor at Royal George Theater. John appears in The House That Jack Built, an indie available on Netflix. For the last four years he has been writing and otherwise enjoying retired life in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He is the author of five plays, including his latest, The Great Writer, about Ernest Hemingway’s last year of life in Cuba. John was born in Havana, attended Lane Tech High School and is a graduate of the theater program of Loyola University of Chicago.
