Artist Bio
NJ Draine
(Bio as of June 2024)
NJ Draine (Music) is a Chicago-based educator, playwright, and singer-songwriter. Through their music and storytelling practice, they explore the bitingly absurd, the poetic, and the surreality of experiences yet to be realized. After graduating from Vassar College with a BA in Theater Studies, they moved to New York City to pursue an eventful but short-lived music career, followed by an MFA in Northwestern’s Writing for Screen and Stage program. NJ is currently writing a commissioned play for First Floor Theater, developing a musical with the Goodman Theatre, and writing an album.
