Artist Bio
Senuwell L. Smith

Senuwell L. Smith previously appeared at the Goodman in The Death of Bessie Smith during the Edward Albee Festival in the 2003/2004 Season. In Chicago, he appeared in the Blind Faith Theater Company’s production of Streamers, for which he was nominated for a Black Theater Alliance Award for the role of Carlyle; The Little Prince at Touchstone Theatre; Oldtimers Game at the Theater Building, directed by Robert Falls; Union Station and Going to the Club with eta Creative Arts (Black Theater Alliance Award nomination); “Master Harold”…and the Boys at Steppenwolf Theater Company; and a Jeff-nominated ensemble performance in Union Boys at Wisdom Bridge Theatre Company. He made his national tour debut in The Buddy Holly Story with Dodger Productions out of New York, and appeared in the American premiere of The Children of Kush Arising at the Black Theater Workshop in Montreal, Canada. Additional theater credits include six seasons with Black Ensemble Theater performing in Anna Lucasta and The Sammy Davis Jr. Story. Film credits include Bad Boys, Sweet Perfection and Serenade in Blue, and he has appeared on television in the ABC series Lady Blue and Brewster Place.
