Artist Bio
Tara Mallen

Tara Mallen is an actor, director, producer and founding member and artistic director of Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, a 15-year-old professional theater company based in Chicago. Recent stage credits include Rivendell’s productions The Walls and Self Defense, or the death of some salesmen (After Dark Award for Best Ensemble), both at Steppenwolf’s Garage Theatre as part of Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s Visiting Theater Initiative. At Rivendell, she has both produced and acted in 27 Wagons Full of Cotton; Ten Tiny Fingers, Nine Tiny Toes; Wrens (Jeff Award); My Simple City (Jeff nomination); Holy Days; Mommapalooza!;The Clink; The Factory Girls; Faulkner’s Bicycle; The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek and Indulgences in the Louisville Harem. Ms. Mallen’s directing credits include the Midwest premieres of Quiara Alegría Hudes’ 26 Miles (Jeff nomination) in association with Rivendell and Teatro Vista; Fighting Words by Sunil Kuruvilla; Psalms of a Questionable Nature by Marisa Wegerzyn; the co-production of Elliot, a Soldier’s Fugue with Rivendell and Stageworks/Hudson in Hudson, New York, and Shady Meadows by Lisa Dillman as part of the 2007 Chicago Humanities Festival. On film, Ms. Mallen appeared alongside Kate Winslet in Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion, and she has appeared on television opposite Kelsey Grammer in the STARZ hit series Boss. Ms. Mallen graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in theater from Brooklyn College.
