Artist Bio
Tohoru Masamune
(Bio as of April 2005)
Tohoru Masamune most recently appeared at the Goodman in Silk during the 2004/2005 Season. He was in the original cast of A.R. Gurney’s Far East directed by Tony Award-winner Daniel Sullivan at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. He has appeared in Jack Shack at The Second City in Los Angeles, Raising Caen at the American Conservatory Theatre and Rashomon at Theatreworks. He was a resident artist and toured nationally with the Theatre of Yugen (classical Japanese theater including Kyogen and Noh), where he appeared in Boshibari, Busu Poison, Sumo Wrestling with a Mosquito, Drifting Fires, Inugami, as well as adaptations of The Trojan Women and Tartuffe. He performed the role of Stephen in The Sorrows of Stephen at the Elephant Theatre in Los Angeles, Hollywood Cliché for the Los Angeles EdgeFest 2003, as well as A Majority of One with George Takei and Estelle Harris. Film credits include Pacific Heights directed by Oscar winner John Schlesinger. Television credits include CBS’ Without a Trace, Chicago Hope, Cybill, Ink and Diagnosis Murder; ABC’s The Practice; NBC’s Providence and Mad About You; MTM’s The Cape; FOX’s pilot Chief; and Nickelodeon’s The Secret World of Annie Mack.
