ABOUT thE POET

E.J. Wade is an educator and poet whose writing focuses on the silencing, exclusion, and invisibility of African American Women and their narratives. A three-time Pushcart Award nominee, Literary Editor of the Anthology of Appalachian Writers, and member of Goodman Theater’s GeNarration Project, she currently works as a Homebound Tutor for Oak Park River Forest High School in Oak Park, Illinois. Her poems are published in the Anthology of Appalachian Writers, Women Speak, the New Ohio Review, Salvation South, Callaloo Literary Journal, and the novel No Perfect Mothers by Karen Spears Zacharias. Her new book The Devil’s Pulpit & Other Mostly True Scottish Misadventures, with Mercer’s Publishing, is scheduled to be released in March 2025. She holds a Doctor of Education from National Louis University, an MA in Appalachian Studies from Shepherd University, and an MA in Creative Media Practices from the University of The West of Scotland.
