Talking Pictures
Talking Pictures is set in 1929, a time of rapid social change. An influx of immigrants is adding a new dynamic to conversations about race, divorce is becoming a very real alternative to unhappy marriage and cinemas all over the country are abandoning silent films for the next big thing: the “talkies.” This development is alarming to Myra, who makes her living providing the musical accompaniment for the silent picture shows.
